When: 4 P.M. Monday, November 17, 2008. We'll stay into the evening as the Ayers event is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m.
Where: Outside Busboys and Poets, aka Busboys and Terrorists, 14th St. and V St., NW, Washington, D.C.
Nearest Metro: U St./African-American Civil War Memorial/Cardozo Station, 13th St. exit, Yellow and Green Lines.
Bring: American flags and signs denouncing Bill Ayers, Busboys and Poets (for hosting him) and Barack Obama (for palling around with him.)
Just today, it was reported that Ayers now describes his relationship with Obama as one of being "family friends":
"We had served together on the board of a foundation, knew one another as neighbors and family friends, held an initial fund-raiser at my house, where I'd made a small donation to his earliest political campaign."(from a new afterward to Ayers' 2001 book, Fugitive Days)
This will not be the first time Busboys and Poets, aka, Busboys and Terrorists, has hosted a Weather Underground terrorist. On October 16, 2007, Busboys and Poets, aka, Busboys and Terrorists, held a book party for Cathy Wilkerson, author of Flying Close to the Sun: My Life and Times as a Weatherman.
Wilkerson was a survivor of the March 6, 1970, work place accident at a Greenwich Village brownstone that killed three of her fellow Weather Underground terrorists. The bombs that exploded were being built to murder officers and their dates at an NCO dance at Fort Dix.
The pro-terrorist group Code Pink promoted Wilkerson's appearance at Busboys and Poets, aka, Busboy and Terrorists.
The next month, Code Pink hosted a terrorist propaganda event at Busboys and Poets, aka, Busboys and Terrorists. Featured were the filmmakers behind Meeting Resistance and an Iraqi author of City of Widows, an Iraqi Woman's Account of War and Resistance.
Busboys and Poets, aka, Busboys and Terrorists, has a new business arrangement with Code Pink's parent group, Global Exchange, according to Medea Benjamin.
Like Bill Ayers and Code Pink's Jodie Evans, the owner of Busboys and Poets, aka Busboys and Terrorists, Anas (Andy) Shallal, is a donor to Barack Obama. The FEC reports Shallal gave $2300 to the Obama presidential campaign on April 7, 2008.
Shallal explained his reasons for hosting the unrepentant terrorist to Bill Ayres to The Washington Post this week:
"People need to know who the real Bill Ayers is and what he stands for," said owner Andy Shallal, who booked the appearance about a month ago. The buzz, he said, has been "tremendous"; he expects a packed house. "Part of what we do is educate," said Shallal. "The democratic process can only be done when people have all the information at their fingertips."
PLEASE NOTE: The D.C. Chapter's longstanding rules for protesting will be in effect. Briefly, they are: No violence, no profanity, no racism, no provocations, obey the law and treat all law enforcement officers with respect.
If you cannot abide by these rules of civil behavior, please stay home.
I imagine folks wanting to go in and politely ask Bill Ayers questions will be allowed to do so by Busboys and Poets, aka, Busboys and Terrorists. Just don't expect honest answers from Ayers as he still fears prosecution. He is well aware that there are some crimes that have no statute of limitations. |
